Description

The Rapid Prototyping lab comprises of Markforged 3D composite printer and several other 3D printers for quick prototyping of small unique parts. The Markforged 3D printer prints semi-flexible nylon parts that can be embedded with various fibers to increase their strength and rigidity. These fibers are carbon fiber, Kevlar, fiberglass and high strength high-temperature fiberglass. The fiber can be placed like a traditional composite or to reinforce walls or holes.
It has a build volume of 330 mm x 270 mm x 200 mm and a layer resolution of 0.1mm with pure nylon and 0.125mm with fiber embedded. All processing can be done by the customer in the Eiger software provided by Markforged or by a technician here at Northeastern University.
